TOPIC: ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
Memory Verse: Ps. 92:1-2
INTRODUCTION:
A wiseman said that attitude determines your altitude. I could not but agree any less. Altitude has to be with your spiritual and mental disposition. God looks at the state of our hearts before accepting the fruits of our lips. It is the state of heart that validates the fruit of the lips. (Heb.13:15)
In every situation, God expects us to be grateful. (1 Thess.5:18; Roms.4:20; Hab.3:17-19)
WAYS TO EXPRESS GRATITUDE
- Praise- worship, glorifying, honor, exalt etc. Ps. 67:5-7; 103:1-5; 33:1
- Thanksgiving- Ps.100:4; 116:17; 107:22
- Offering/Sacrifices- Ps.66:13; 116:17-18; Prov.3:9; Gen.8:20-22
SIGNS OF WRONG ATTITUDE
- Delayed gratitude- which is disguised ingratitude. Jer.13:16; Mal.2:1-3
- Pride/Sense of Entitlement – Jer. 13:15-17; Ps.28:5
- Offenses/Complaints – Matt.11:6; 1 Cor.10:10-12,32; Deut.28:47-48
- Selfishness/Competitiveness/ Jealousy- Gen.4:2-8; 2 Cor. 10:12; 5:12-13
BENEFITS OF AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
- You command the Presence of God – Ps.22:3; Ex.15:11; Ps.114:1-2
- You command supernatural harvest- Ps.67:5-7; Hab.3:17-19; Joel 2:23-26
- You command supernatural strength- Ps.8:2 cf Matt.21:16; Neh.8:10
- You command supernatural victory/deliverance- 2 Chron.20:21-25; Judges 1:1-2; Acts 16:25-26
