“Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” (Matt.22:29 KJV)

Everyday of our lives, we consciously or unconsciously commit one error or the other. I am as guilty as you are. I had believed in some errors and made some errors in the past which could have been fatal to my destiny save for the timely intervention of the Spirit of grace in my life. I may still make sincere errors today but the difference is that my conscience has been purged from every dead work by the blood of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit directs and rules my heart. So, I’m quick to reconfirm my beliefs or actions to ensure they’re in tandem with the Scriptures. If not, I quickly repent and instruct myself with the right message.

We need to be conscious of errors because they can be both horrifying and terrifying when we live in it. It becomes more imperative in these last days as all manner of teachings, manipulations, dramas and spiritist choreographies are being marketed.  Paul prophetically alerted Timothy about this trend in his first epistle to him. He said, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;” (1 Tim. 4:1-2 KJV)

I discovered that these errors are systematic and procedural in nature. It has a flow like a standard operating procedure. It flows this way.

1. Error of Knowledge or Vacuum Induced Error.

This is the first stage where error occurs due to misinformation or lack of information. Some people are simpletons. They believe everything and hold on to their beliefs even if there are superior or counter information. While some don’t have any information, so they follow those they think that know into error.

2. Error of Thought.

What you believe in, rightly or wrongly, affects your thoughts. When you acquire erroneous information it will only produce erroneous thoughts. No wonder the Wiseman said, “ Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.” ( Prov.4:23)

3. Error of Identity.

When there is error in your thoughts it will affect your reality or consciousness. It alters your conscious perception of who you are. Because how you think and what you think will affect who you think you are. And who you think you are deals with your identity which is your reality.

4. Error of Action.

When identity is altered, it affects behavior. Behavior follows identity and not vice versa. There are certain actions that are inherent in man because of his nature. Ditto for animals. So if there’s error in identity, then the proceeding actions will definitely be erroneous.

When error is not checked it will lead to terror and horror. I read about a man that was mightily used by God in the healing ministry but he went into error – claiming to be the Elijah that will come before the coming of Christ. Worse still, he taught that Jesus is not God The Divine Healer. Sadly, his end was very fatal as he died in a car accident.

Therefore, to avoid errors – we must do the following:

1. Have a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit.

2. Be a committed student of the Holy Scriptures.

3. Discern all spirits.

4. Sensitize, scrutinize, sieve and select your teachers – Do a due diligence on them before following.

5. Be accountable to God and to your proven teachers.

6. Acknowledge God and show gratitude for Who He is and His Word. Ingratitude can lead to error of thought.
