For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:12 KJV)

One of the advantages of debt financing over equity financing is the tax shield effect. This means that the interest that accrues on debt can be tax deductible which invariably reduces the cost of capital. Resultantly, the borrower or issuer enjoys some shield or incentive or advantage or shielded from the effect of taxation. Metaphorically, this could be considered as a concession or somewhat favor.

Also, I found from Scriptures that faith is a shield. It has its own shield effect on everyone that takes it. “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” (Eph.6:16)

There’s a correlation between faith and favor. When the faith of Christ is activated, favor becomes the effect. “Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace[favor]…” (Roms.4:16)

Favor is the effect of the faith of Christ. When we live by the faith of Christ, favor shields us from every external aggression or contamination. Also, it activates the covenant of blessing. Apostle Paul writing to the Galatians stated unequivocally that the life he lived was by the faith of the Son of God who favored him with His love to the point of self sacrifice. (Gal.2:20)

Queen Esther enjoyed the shield of favor in captivity. She was chosen by favor to be the queen of the land. Also, favor shielded her from perishing or incurring the wrath of the king when she went to the king without invitation. She found unprecedented favor in the sight of the king. Such a favor could have only come from the God of all grace.

As a child of God, you can enjoy that same favor even at a much higher degree because of the new covenant in Christ. I enjoy the favor of God at all times and in all places. I have tangible testimonies to that effect.

What’s required from you is to expect God’s favor, all the time and in all places. The Bible says, “If I were in your shoes, I’d go straight to God, I’d throw myself on the mercy of God. After all, he’s famous for great and unexpected acts; there’s no end to his surprises.” (Job 5:8-9 MSG)

Therefore, expect God to do great and unexpected miracles everyday.

Howbeit, fundamentally we need to activate the shield of favor by receiving the gift of righteousness. It’s given only by believing in the finished work of Christ. (Roms.5:17; Gal.2:21; Ps.5:12)

And then we grow in favor by understanding and doing the Word of God. Be studious and ask the Holy Spirit to help you to understand and do the Scriptures. (Prov.13:15; 2 Peter 3:18; Phil.2:13)

By so doing, you’ll enjoy a life of favor. Remember, He’s favor is for a lifetime.

To your shield of favor,
